Bit of a weird one today.

I reckon jetlag hit pretty badly, for me anyway. Felt like my feet weren't on the ground for most of the day, not helped by the bottle of bubbles I'd drunk the night before. I'd been having a ball until now, but no time to sit and feel sorry for myself, we had people to meet!

Off to the Tower of London, where we met cousin Charlie, who is on her first excursion to Europe. She's having a ball, and has been all around the place. It was lovely to see her.

The ToL was ok. Maybe it was the jetlag, but apart from the Crown Jewels, and the magnificent view of the Tower Bridge, I found it a bit underwhelming. I feel guilty saying that, but there was sooooo much armour and weaponry that it got a bit boring. By the time we got to the torture stuff (which is WAY more interesting), it was time to leave and meet my lovely friend from Brisbane, Kylie.

Having said that, I think the others got a lot out of it, particularly K4. He liked King Henry the something or other's very big codpiece. Lol.

We met Kylie at the exit of the ToL, and the lot of us went to Borough Market for lunch. It was CRAZY busy, but the place was awesome!!! I'd LOVE to have spent some time there exploring, but again the kids were a bit overwhelmed and needed to get out. The food was EXCELLENT, I had latkes and sour cream. SOOOO delicious!!!!! My mouth is watering just thinking of it! I could have bought a billion other delicious things to eat.

We then walked up to Leadenhall Market, which is right next to where I used to work at Deutsche Bank a very long time ago. Would you believe that we walked in to a transgender fashion show!!??!?!?! So, so funny, and entertaining. A couple of them could do with a jolly good feed or two, and the others had some very good muscles.

Also extremely funny, of the whole crowd there, there were 2 protesters. They were old and white, and oddly out of place. Security kept an eye on things, and so did the cops. The protesters walked around a bit, and then left. Everyone's allowed an opinion, so they weren't doing anything illegal, even if they were just being a bit backward in today's age. No harm was done, and it was good for the kids to see something like that.

Leadenhall Market was extremely beautiful as always, but unfortunately, we couldn't explore it as much as I'd have liked due to the catwalk being right smack bang in the middle of things.

From there, I said goodbye to Charlie, K4 & the kids and Kylie & I got out of there. We walked for quite a bit, past St Paul's Cathedral. Also very beautiful!

It's funny, I had a great time here 23 years ago, and really wished I'd had stayed, but I don't think I ever really appreciated how much history and adventure there is to be had on every corner. I spent a lot of time working & partying, and not exploring. There is SOOOO much to see!

Kyles & I decided it was woine toime, and headed over to Mayfair Mercato for some bubbles & a pizza. www.mercatometropolitano.com/mercato-mayfair/ is the site, if anyone's interested.

Kylie & I worked together for a couple of years back in Brisbane. She's lots and lots of fun, super smart, and a great friend!

The mercato was heaps of fun, and super interesting! It's located in an old church, and has different food stalls plonked around it. 2 levels, and a terrace. We got on the wines and gossiped the next few hours away.

The pizza was great, and after a good old chinwag, she got my wobbly boots on the tube and I made my way back to the hotel. London still feels safe later at night, there were HEAPS of people around, and I soon found myself at home with no trouble.

K4 & the kids had a great time with Charlie & Finn, by all accounts. Got themselves around Leicester Square, found the M&M shop, had dinner at KFC (ugh!), and tried to play minigolf at a swingers club. Yes, minigolf for actual swingers.

To be honest, the place was called Swingers, but it was a bit confusing, because they advertised themselves as minigolf, but didn't say much that it was actually for swingers. Apparently K4 & Jess could get in, but Johnny & Syd would have had to wait outside. Awkward!!! So technically, I guess we could say that K4 took the kids to a swingers club. Never going to live that one down!!!

My head hit the pillow, and I woke up at 9am this morning!!! Feeling much better today!

About 19,000 steps.
