We got out early this morning. Well, 9am, but STILL, that's early for us! Watch us tomorrow, we need to get on the road by 7am! Fingers crossed that goes easily!

Onto the train to Munich, for Oktoberfest!!! Turns out the kids thought it was going to be terrible, that K4 & I were just going to sit there and drink beer, while they sat nicely and waited for us. In case anyone else thinks that, it's totally not!

It's the biggest rides, sausage & beer festival in the world! Don't get me wrong, there's LOTS of beer! But the rides are HUGE! There are a zillion of them, and HEAPS of sausages & nuts all mixed in with the rides & beer halls. We went early, so the beer halls weren't heaving just yet. The evenings will be awesome, with the lights, and music pumping, but we won't get there for that this time.

But the day was beautiful (I think I actually might be slightly sunburnt!!! GASP!!!! Totally can't believe that!), and the sausages were great! As were the cheese spaetzle, apple fritters, candy and chocolate apples and pork roll. And the rides were epic! Not that I'd know, my feet we kept firmly on the ground. But the troops loved them!

The only food I'd have liked to had as well was potato croquettes. Maybe I'll get that in Switzerland tomorrow.

Oddly, lately at home, I've been buying pork knuckle from Costco. I can get a good crackle on it now, and I'm looking forward to giving it another go when we get back.

The outfits that the locals & tourists getting into the spirit of things are just beautiful!!! Wished I could have bought one, but really, when can I wear that at home?

After a few good hours, and a jolly good look around, we moved on.

The girls hit the city for some shopping, and the boys went to the BMW museum.

Apparently the BMW museum was EXCELLENT! For all of the cool cars, and also the building architecture. Johnny loved it. Highly recommend for those of you that like cars.

The girls bought a bunch of things each, but I was too scared to buy anything, as my pack is heavy enough as it is!!!

We're back at the hotel now, just after 6.30pm. We'll pack tonight, for our early start to Lucerne tomorrow. We have a Swiss Army knife in our sights. At least then I can give K4's toothbrush back, because hopefully we'll have a corkscrew to open my wine with! Lol.

Jess has loved Germany the most of all the places we've been. She feels most at home here, she thinks the people are kind and open. She had a lovely encounter on the train with a couple of girls yesterday, there were a lot of giggles, and she left on a high.

We've been madly recycling our bottles. The system here is that you get 25c back for every 600ml coke bottle you recycle. If you recycle at a supermarket, they give you a docket that you can redeem with your shopping. We went to a super basic supermarket tonight, on the way home, and the bill was just over 7 Euros, and I only had to pay about 4.5 Euros to match up the difference. All that shopping for only $7!!!

Also, before we realised about the recycling system, Jess threw a bottle in the bin. A normal, middle class lady raced over and grabbed it out as quick as a whip!

There are lots of beggars here, all over the place. We were wondering if they were refugees from Eastern Europe. Anyway, they fossick in the rubbish bins for the bottles, and I think they'd get enough to help them out. One fellow asked Syd for the 2 empty bottles she was carrying with her today.

Over 17,000 steps.
