Morning!  As I’m sure you all know, getting teenagers out of bed is a challenge.  Johnny had wanted to be woken up early, and out of the house by 9am, but ironically, he was the most reluctant to let go of his pillow.  So we let him & Jess have a lazy get out of bed, while Syd, K4 & I went for a preliminary wander.

My primary goal for the day was to knock off the top sites, and buy up large in the Murano glass.  We were successful in both aspects!!  I don’t know if we were scarred by the high prices in Lucerne, but the glass seemed soooooo cheap!  Syd & I snapped up a few shiny pieces before we ran back to launch Jess out of the apartment, and into the world of glass shopping.

There were SOOOO MANY pieces I’d have loved to bring home!  It turned out that the first wee shop, closest to our house, was the best, with the best prices as well.  There was another shop, goodness knows where, and that I’d never be able to find again, with a fabulous range, and great prices too.  That fellow said that there were over 2000 glass shops in Venice, and that he needed to be competitive.  The place really is over-run with glass shops.

One of the directives of the day was to get lost in Venice.  Well, we were pretty much lost all day.  We saw everything though!  Bridges, canals, shopping strips, bars, churches and more.  We knocked off the Rialto bridge, the Grand Canal, the Bridge of Sighs (where a gent proposed, and was accepted to great cheers from the crowds), gondolas, San Marco square & bascilica. You name it, we saw it.  We spent hours walking and looking!

We were also lucky enough to catch the very end of the NRL grand final!  K4 found a little Irish pub, and we had a beer & spritz to lubricate the tubes as the Panthers sadly just snuck ahead of the Broncos.  The kids learned some choice new phrases, that they can next use when their team loses and they are most displeased.  Face palm!

We lunched at a dodgy, but nice pizza/pasta place.  I’m sure there were many better options, but this was perfectly adequate, and we’ll save the fine dining for Florence.  And Barcelona.

After many, many stairs, bridges & amazing things to be seen, and getting lost several times, we picked up a few bits and pieces for dinner and headed home for some more Ted Lasso, and to pack again, to head on to our next destination.

While the kids kicked back, K4 & I shot out for a quick Aperol Spritz in the bar downstairs.  Adulting for the win!!!

2 min noodles & charcuterie board for dinner.

17,000 steps.
